The 2023 Orange Descent Title was won by Thomas & Hamish Lovemore with Waldo van der Linde & Adriaan van Schalkwyk in 2de and Heinrich Schloms & John de Villiers in 3de.
The Lovemore sibling due proved their class by dominating the race from day one. The top crews quickly established their dominance and split the field right after the start. The Lovemore Due made a break about 7km into day 1 by powering through the rapids and leaving the field behind.
The same for Day 2 where the same where 4 boats got away at the start with Eugene van der Westuizen and his international partner Rick Daman joining the front diamond.
The local crew of Waldo van der Linde & Adriaan van Schalkwyk used their local knowledge of the rapid and to the lead into the 3 mayor rapids of the day. Heinrich Schloms & John de Villiers suffered some misfortune buy capsizing and breaking a paddle in one of the rapids. Luckily there was some river safety crew on hand to lend him a paddle and continue their gutsy chase for the from 3 boats.
The Lovemore Due out sprinted the local crew of Waldo van der Linde & Adriaan van Schalkwyk to yet again take line honours for Day 2.
